Events 2007-08

Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology Events – 2007-2008 Academic Year

During this academic year we have conducted three Workshops and one Seminar.
Seminars and Workshops
1. A workshop on “Effective Teaching” was conducted on August 28-29, 2007. Prof.G.Baburao, renounced HRD consultant delivered a lecture on“Effective Classroom Management” and Swamy Anupamanandji, Director,Institute of Languages, Ramkrishna Math, Hyderabad addressed theparticipants on “Value Education.” Total 87 teaching and non-teaching staff was participated in this workshop.

2. On September 6, 2007, Prof.G. Laxmi , HOD, Department of ECE, organized a one-day workshop for newly joined faculty members on Teaching Methodologies.

3. Three Day Orientation course exclusively conducted for I B.Tech students, on October 6-9, 2007 to guide them how to cope-up with the new environment and how to prepare for professional study.Prominent resource persons from twin cities interacted with students as a part of this program. A booklet on Personality development, edited by our faculty members was released on this occasion and distributed to students.


IEEE-VBIT student chapter and Department of Humanities and Science organized a state level Seminar on Nano Science and Technology on 27th October 2007. This Seminar was inaugurated by Dr.M.Laxmi Narasu, Prof.and Head of the Department (Biotechnology)

Soon after the JNTU has announced induction of this topic in first year Engineering syllabus, it was the first seminar of it’s kind and hence it received a warm response across the state. 47 delegates throughout the state were participated in this Seminar.

IEEE-VBIT student chapter and Department of Humanities and Science organized a state level Seminar on
Nano Science and Technology on 27th October 2007. This Seminar was inaugurated by Dr.M.Laxmi Narasu, Prof.and Head of the Department (Biotechnology) J.N.T.U.

A workshop on “Linux in Technical Education” was organized by the Department of CSE-IT during 19-23 May, 2008.Total 25 participants were participated in this Workshop.Dr. Neeraj Upadhyaya was the chief Instructor of this workshop.

During this Academic year a galaxy of academicians and industrial experts visited our campus and had interaction with students on various topics.

VBIT has launched various Student Centric Initiatives during last year. Student branches of IEEE and IETE, Stutalk…Campus news letter, Dyuthi-NSS unit, Avishkar-Multimedia club for first year students, Branch Associations of EEE,ECE,CSE-IT and MBA,MCA are some of them. We sincerely believe on Quality Education of which student is the one and only one focal point.
IEEE 74 students have become the member of IEEE for the year 2008-09.This association emerged as one of the very active campus organization since its inception itself. IEEE-VBIT student branch conducted weekly programs like group discussion, Exhibition of technical movies, Debate and paper
presentations throughout the year. VBIT is proud of its IEEE student branch for its successful effort in organizing the National level Technical symposium and pioneering many such events and activities in future.Xylyx’08-the national level technical symposium was organized during 27-28 March,2008.more than 170 students from various institutions were participated in this event. Dr. Neeraj Upadhyaya has inaugurated the event while Mr. Pradeepkumar Pandey of InfoTech software was the chief Guest for valedictory session
IETE IETE student forum of VBIT was inaugurated on April 2, 2008 in the presence of IEEE office bearers -Prof.K.Laxminarayana, MLCC Chairman, IETE; Mr. Venkatraman, Chairman,IETE,Hyderabad and Mr. Prakash Dora, Secretery, IETE,Hyderabad.Total 103 students registered for IETE membership.


Dyuthi, means the ray of hope. True to its meaning this unit set an example that how career and social responsibility should walk hand in hand. This NSS unit of VBIT, has started functioning from 13th October 2007.It was inaugurated by the JNTU -NSS coordinator Dr. Anjaneya Prasad. A blood donation camp was organized on December 14, 2007 in which more than 216 students and staff donated the blood.

December 14, 2007 -dyuthi

Dyuthi emerged as a largest student association- social service unit- with more than 225 students, more than 30 teaching and non-teaching staff as its members. Based on its survey of nearby Government schools Dyuthi is all set to launch a permanent project to uplift the downtrodden students in surrounding area.
StuTalk The name says it all, a monthly newsletter, the first issue of which was released on November 2, 2007,
voicing out student’s opinions and thoughts, created immense passion in VBIT’ians by putting forth their talents and promulgating them. StuTalk, more notable as a college buzz admits college roundup, happenings
and facetious college gossips, etc. This journal also encompasses many articles, technical abstracts, puzzles to tickle the brains,humorous cartoons and jokes, etc.

The main notion of stuTalk is not only to bring out the college agenda but is also an attempt to shape up our student’s skills in various areas. An editorial team of students is looking after this activity.
Branch Associations
As a part of our plan, during this semester all Departments have established their respective branch associations.

1. Electroz-EEE branch Association was inaugurated by Prof. Tulsiramdas, JNTU on Jan.28, 2008.This association has organized a state level Technical paper presentation competition-Reveal’08- on February 8, 2008

Prof.Raghuram of JNTU has inaugurated this event in which 15 participants were invited from various colleges to present their papers.

2. Techknop- MCA students association was inaugurated on March 10, 2008 in the presence of Mr.Neil Gogate, Director of Genesis solutions. On behalf of this forum various competitions like quiez,paper presentation were organized in last two months.

3. Management Aptitude Club (MAC) – The forum of our MBA students has organized very unique kind of events through out the year. Paper presentation on technical management, Wall Street 08-the event based on share market affairs-were some of them.

4. Electro Elites – The branch Association of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was launched on April 2, 2008 in presence of Dr.Pratap Reddy, JNTU.

5. CINE-CSE-IT Network of Engineers-Branch association was inaugurated on 3 April, 2008 by Dr. Chandrasekhar Reddy,JNTU

Branch Associations

8 students of VBIT have represented JNTU at National level Inter university tournaments. Our I MCA student Mr. Deepak Kumar participated in international softball tournaments. (Chart 4) We have our efficient teams in Vallyball, Cricket and Throw ball which were participated and won the awards in intercollegiate tournaments held at various places during this year. Annual sports meet was conducted during 24-31 March, 2008.
This is a multimedia club exclusively for first year students. On the eve of republic day a paper presentation competition was held on behalf of this forum. Total 84 students were presented their papers on various technical and non technical subjects.

Alumni Association
First batch of VBIT is all set to pass out this year. Alumni association was inaugurated on 8th May 2008. A book containing information details of final year students was released on this occasion.
Faculty Forum
First batch of VBIT is all set to pass out this year. Alumni association was inaugurated on 8th May 2008. A book containing information details of final year students was released on this occasion.

As a part of our development plan we have inaugurated Faculty Forum on February 15th of this year. A series of presentations was organized on the behalf of Faculty Forum during semester break.7 faculty members presented different topics like Research methodology, Global positioning and Disaster management.

Industry interface enables students to analyze and understand the ever-changing dynamics of the industry. Students are exposed to latest industry practices through industry visits during their study. These visits provide students with adequate exposure in tackling live problems encountered in the working of an industrial entity.

An industrial Tour of III B.Tech. (E.E.E.) students was conducted to visit Visakapatanam steel plant.

July 26-Aug-2, 2007

An industrial Tour of III B.Tech. (E.C.E.and C.S.E.) students was conducted to visit CDAC, BHEL and I.I.Sc. Campus, Bangalore.

August 7, 2007

Field visit of CSE and ECE students was conducted. 70 students visited NSIC-R&D Centre,Kushaiguda and MIC Electronics Ltd.

August 11 and 12,2007

45 IEEE members attended Section Student Congress-2007 and All India student Project contest organized by IEEE-Hyderabad Section at O.U. Campus.

March 8-9, 2007

80 students from II and III B.Tech EEE were visited Hydreal power project at Sri Sailam
REVERA’08-College Annual Day Celebration
This year REVERA, 08 was celebrated in two phases. Desi Day-The cultural fest- was organized on 29th March, 08.Various cultural competitions like Traditional Dress and Ramp, Dance, singing etc. attracted huge response from the students. The function was concluded with DJ music show. We have celebrated our formal College Annual day on 17th April, 2008 with a lot of fanfare.

The new Engineering Block was inaugurated by Dr. K.Rajagopal, Vice Chancellor J.N.T.U. The Computer Lab was declared open by Cdr. S.K.Naresh, Regional Manager, Satyam Computers. The Multimedia Laboratory was unveiled by Dr. Kiranmai Dutt, Director Nova Solutions. Dr. C.S.R. Prabhu, Deputy Director General, National Informatics, Ministry of communication and I.T. and Dr. T.C.Sarma, NRSA, Department of Space were special invitees on this occasion
