Dr. Kalyana Rama J S is currently working as a Professor, Department of Civil Engineering VBIT, and R&D coordinator for the institute. He completed his Ph.D. from BITS Pilani-Hyderabad Campus. Prior to joining VBIT, he worked for BITS Pilani-Hyderabad Campus and V R Siddhartha Engineering College. His research interests include failure and fragmentation of concrete structures under fatigue, dynamic and impact loading, earthquake-resistant design of concrete structures, and performance-based design of concrete structures. Dr. Kalyan is a Young Member of The International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM) and a Technical Committee member representing India for Early age cracking of concrete and alkali-activated concrete for RILEM. He is also a Life Member of the Indian Concrete Institute, member of the International Association of Fracture Mechanics of Concrete Structures, and the International Association of Engineers. He had Received an International Young Researcher Travel grant from the International Association of Fracture Mechanics of Concrete Structures for attending FraMCoS-X: Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures, in France. He had delivered more than 25 invited lectures across the country at various state and central level academic and industrial organizations. He had also delivered keynote and invited talks at various international conferences. He is currently guiding 2 Ph.D. students, mentoring 2 Ph.D. students in India and Abroad. He has authored 14 journal papers in international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, 6 book chapters,34 papers at various National and International Conferences, and 2 articles in a reputed National Magazine. He is handling 1 industrial research project, 1 industrial consultancy project, and 1 government-funded project as a Co-Investigator. He is associated with various collaborators from India, Germany, UAE, UK, Portugal, France, and Chile.
